TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Marshals Service's New York and New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a wanted Troy man last week alongside Amtrak Police. Terrence Ravenell, 28, faces a new felony charge in addition to the charges associated with his active bench warrant, according to Troy Police.
Rensselaer County Court issued a warrant for Ravenell's arrest on May 7 after he failed to appear for his sentencing in a drug trafficking case in which he had been charged with possessing over eight pounds of meth and a loaded handgun. Troy detectives learned that Ravenell had fled New York and reportedly traveled to California, leading to the department requesting federal assistance with the search.
During the ensuing investigation, law enforcement determined that Ravenell had boarded a train bound for New York. U.S. Marshals and Amtrak Police officers located him and took him into custody in Schenectady on June 17.
Ravenell was allegedly found with a loaded firearm at the time of his arrest. He was turned over to Troy Police and was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
