What to Look for in a Family-Friendly Hotel in Vegas, According to a Travel Expert

When choosing a family-friendly hotel in Vegas, there are a few things to consider, according to Stephanie Webb, a travel expert and a travel guide at Tripshepherd. Below, Webb lists the key features to look for before booking.

Amenities for Kids: Webb explains to look for hotels that offer amenities specifically for children, such as kids’ pools, splash pads, arcades, and family-friendly shows. “Some hotels even have kids’ clubs or supervised activities to keep the little ones entertained,” she notes.
Room Size and Configuration: “Family suites or adjoining rooms are great options to ensure everyone has enough space,” Webb says. “Having a separate area for kids to sleep can make a big difference in comfort.
Dining Options: Also, check if the hotel has a variety of dining options, including kid-friendly menus and casual dining venues. “Buffets can be a hit with kids due to the wide range of choices,” Webb says.
Safety and Convenience: Safety is a top concern no matter where you travel so consider the hotel’s location and how easy it is to navigate with children. Look for properties that are not too far from the main attractions but still offer a quiet, safe environment.

What Part of Vegas Is Best for Families?

“The Strip, particularly the north and central parts, while traditionally known for its adult entertainment, offers numerous family-friendly attractions such as the Bellagio Fountains, Mirage Volcano, and various shows and exhibits suitable for all ages,” shares Dana Yao, a dedicated traveler and content creator. “Downtown Vegas, specifically the Fremont Street Experience, is a vibrant area with live entertainment, street performers, and attractions like the Mob Museum and Discovery Children’s Museum,” Yao adds.

You can also consider Summerlin, a suburban area with parks, family-oriented activities, and a quieter atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of The Strip.

Is It Worth Going to Vegas With Kids?

All of the experts we spoke to agreed that it’s worth going to Vegas with kids, especially if you visit the family-friendly shows, attractions, restaurants, and themed hotels.

“Circus Circus offers free circus acts daily and the Adventuredome theme park,” explains Andy Medearis is a travel expert, bargain hunter, and founder of Deals Points. “Many hotels also offer special kids’ activity clubs and day camps. You also have more fun activities like helicopter rides, car racing experiences, sky jumping (with its famous views), it’s truly an exciting experience to offer to your kids.”

Webb also recommends checking out the numerous educational activities that Vegas offers. “Many of the attractions in Vegas have educational elements, such as the Discovery Children’s Museum and the Nevada State Museum,” she says. “These can provide fun learning experiences during your trip.”

Does Vegas Have All-Inclusive Resorts I Can Bring Kids To?

While traditional all-inclusive resorts are not common in Vegas, many hotels offer packages that include meals, entertainment, and access to amenities. “Resorts like the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas and the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa provide family-friendly packages and a range of activities that can make for an all-inclusive experience,” Yao explains.

Ahead, see the best family hotels and resorts in Vegas packed with activities that the whole family will love.

BEST OVERALL

Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World

Hilton Hotels are known for their hospitality. From cozy room accommodation to endless activities, pools, and spas, no one in your family will be board on to your Las Vegas vacation. The Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World is packed with world-class dining, nightlife, and shopping. And there are multiple pools for when you need some downtime in between dancing the night away. And don’t worry if you’re traveling with the kiddos; there are family-friendly activities like hanging out at the family pool, shopping, or catching a show.

“I had a chance to stay at Resorts World during my last trip to Vegas and really enjoyed my stay. My family and I were put in the Hilton tower (FYI, it’s one of three you can stay at when you’re there) and it was a good experience overall. Everything was fairly close by, from their Famous Foods Street Eats food hall to the Starbucks. If you’re just hanging around the hotel and you want a quick pick-me-up, everything is just right there. For some reason, it just gives it a more intimate feel compared to other Vegas resorts I’ve stayed at. The pool area is really nice. We were lucky to go when it was a pretty dead time (early June), so there was a ton of space. There were a ton of families there, and kids who didn’t want to leave.

Another big bonus of staying here is its proximity to Circus Circus. If you have kids, tweens, or teens who want to play arcade games, go on rides, or check out the Circus acts, it’s right next door. The walk is not bad at all and you don’t have to cross any big intersections to get there. In fact, the crosswalk from Resorts World to the Circus Circus area is fairly short and you can even stop by the McDonald’s to get a quick snack before they hit the arcade and you hit the slot machines.” – Kristine Fellizar, Commerce Editor
