Bronx teens endure heat to clean Soundview Park
THE BRONX (PIX11) -- They didn't know it would be the hottest day of the year when they volunteered to clean up Soundview Park, but dozens of Bronx teenagers made a commitment and stuck with it.
The teens worked in partnership with the global volunteer organization Asez Star.
They braved the scorching heat, cleaning up trash and litter as part of the "Don't Dump on the Bronx" campaign spearheaded by the Bronx Borough President's Office, which coincides with Gun Violence Awareness Month.
The Soundview Park cleanup is the fifth in a series of "Don't Dump on the Bronx" events.
The local teenagers taking part hope that their cleanup efforts are contagious and inspire young people to take pride in their community.
