Thousands lose power in Albany County outages
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Thousands of people lost power on Monday in Albany County, according to National Grid's outage map. Outages were reported along Delaware Avenue in the Albany, Bethlehem, Delmar, and New Scotland areas.
National Grid said the extreme heat on Monday caused some outages. A car accident on Feura Bush Road involved a pole that caused an outage to about 2,500 customers. Another outage was caused by an equipment failure on a pole in Bethlehem that resulted in an additional 3,200 customers in the Delmar/Bethlehem area to lose power.
At its peak, between 6,000 and 7,000 customers were without power. National Grid said crews would work through the night to restore power to all customers.
