Dublin's Muirfield Village to renovate pool at Glick Road Recreation Facility
DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) -- Dublin's Muirfield Village is eyeing an extensive renovation of one of its neighborhood swimming facilities, including replacing the main pool, adding a rock wall, and constructing a new maintenance building.
Renovation plans for Muirfield's 16-acre Glick Road Recreation Facility at 6716 Glick Road call for the new pool to have a similar footprint to the existing pool, but with slight modifications. In addition to swimming lanes, the pool will feature a diving board, a rock wall area, and a zero-entry section.
Designed by Ohio-based consultant the Mannik & Smith Group, the complex's renovation will also include replacement of the kiddie pool with a new circular splash pad. The current fence surrounding the facility will be replaced with the same "like and type" of the existing, but increased in height to six feet for better security.
The concrete patio around the pool will also be redone, with drains that will collect the chlorinated water that runs from the pool.
A new maintenance and storage building is also included in the renovation plans. Constructing this new building to house all the pool equipment removes the need to stretch a large hose over the adjacent creek, which is currently the only way to deliver chemicals. This also removes the equipment from the existing basement, which is safer for maintenance, the plan states.
"The new pool equipment building being proposed is to make the process of keeping the pool clean safer for all involved, including the surrounding community," the proposal states. "This new facility will be constructed in collaboration with the new pool which will replace the existing. The small building will match the existing buildings on site with color and materials being the same."
Dublin's planning and zoning commission unanimously approved the renovations' amended final development plan during a meeting on June 5. It's unclear when construction could begin, though Muirfield's website states the complex will be closed for the season starting Aug. 15.
In addition to the Glick Road Recreation Facility, Muirfield also operates the Holbrook Recreation Facility at 8372 Muirfield Drive. Both are reserved exclusively for Muirfield residents and guests of residents, and are open noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends through Aug. 14.
