Firefighters injured, one critically, battling five-alarm fire in the Bronx: FDNY
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A five-alarm fire broke out at a residential building in the Bronx Sunday evening, according to the FDNY.
Three firefighters were injured, one critically, officials say. An EMS personnel was also injured.
The fire was reported around 7:24 p.m. on Devoe Terrace. 198 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
Operations to bring the fire under control are ongoing. The FDNY Fire Marshals are investigating the origin.
Rocco Brighenti, a restoration specialist on the scene, tells PIX11 News that the humidity only made conditions worse for responding crews. "This is the worst visibility and the worst humidity versus smoke inhalation I have ever seen. In the 10-12 years I have been doing this, this is the worst visibility for smoke I have ever seen."
