Air Quality Health Advisory issued for Capital Region
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and State Department of Health have issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for several areas in the Capital Region and across the state. The advisory will go into effect at 12 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the departments, the advisory is due to fine particulate matter in the air from smoke from wildfires in Canada. Exposure to fine particulate matter can cause short-term health effects, like irritation to the eyes, nose and throat, coughing, sneezing and shortness of breath. It can also worsen medical conditions like asthma and heart disease.
The Air Quality Health Advisory will go into effect for these local regions. A full list of affected areas can be found on the Department of Environmental Conservation website.
