BYUtv is entering a pair of shows at the Emmys
BYUtv has submitted two shows to the Emmys.
The family-friendly streaming service, which is owned by Brigham Young University, has submitted Studio C in Best Scripted Variety Series and Relative Race in Best Reality Competition Program.
Now in its 20th season, Studio C is a sketch comedy series with more than 3 billion views on YouTube. Recent guest stars include Terry Crews, Will Forte, and Jack McBrayer, and YouTube star Steven He. Renamed Best Scripted Variety Series in 2023 from Best Variety Sketch Series, the category has seen precious few entries in recent years, leading to just three nominees in 2023 and only two in 2024. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver won both years after being moved over from Best Talk Series.
Relative Race, now in its 15th season, features four teams of two as they race across the U.S. in search of long-lost relatives with only paper maps, a rental car, and a flip phone. The Traitors is the reigning Best Reality Competition Program champ, having denied RuPaul's Drag Race a sixth win last year.
In March, BYUtv won two Children's and Family Emmy Awards: Best Supporting Performer in a Preschool, Children's or Young Teen Program for Amanda Lawrence (Malory Towers) and Best Editing for a Multiple-Camera Live-Action Program for All-Round Champion. Last year, the streamer received two Daytime Emmy nominations.
