Megan Thee Stallion Wants Tory Lanez Fans to Leave Her Alone
In a 31-page document obtained by Billboard on Thursday, Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team denied claims that there is any new evidence to exonerate Tory Lanez (legal name Daystar Peterson), who is serving a ten-year prison sentence for shooting Megan five years ago. “One by one, their misleading statements unravel and all that is left is the simple truth: Peterson was convicted by overwhelming evidence,” attorney Alex Spiro wrote. “And those who seek to traumatize the victim of the crime should be called out as foolish bullies.”
Lanez’s legal team claimed in a May 14 press conference that Bradley James, a former bodyguard for Megan’s ex-friend Kelsey Harris, had heard Harris admit that she was the one who fired the gun — and that surveillance footage supports this version of events. How did Megan’s legal team respond?
Spiro issued a statement on May 15 to XXL Magazine that reiterated that Lanez was “tried and convicted by a jury of his peers and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system.” The May 22 report from Megan’s lawyers firmly denies the “false narratives” being spread to justify Lanez’s release and addresses multiple specific claims. For example, it asserts that James was not at the scene of the crime and hasn’t publicly made any claims about the case, emphasizing that Lanez’s team “merely alleges what James said.” It states that the Ring camera footage being discussed was already played for the jury during Lanez’s trial in 2022. And as a rebuttal to the claim that only female DNA was found on the gun, the report notes that expert testing previously established “a 90% chance that the DNA found came from a man.”

Megan expressed frustration over the internet’s treatment of her on May 20 in a lengthy statement shared to TikTok. “At what point are yall gonna stop making me have to re live being shot BY TORY !?” she asked. “At what point are Tory and yall FANS gonna stop lying? Like how much is the check to keep harassing me? Why is this happening EVERY DAY??” Lanez did not testify during his trial, and she argued that he didn’t “DARE” to deny that he shot her under oath because he knew the truth. Megan, who was granted a five-year restraining order against Lanez in January 2025, addressed him directly toward the end of her TikTok statement. “YOU SHOT ME !! Florida congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna also told NewsNation that she began advocating for Lanez to be pardoned after Amber Rose approached her about his case.
Megan appears to be taking notice of the response from at least some of her industry peers. She unfollowed GloRilla on May 21 after the rapper shared a post to her Instagram Story that used a song by Lanez. (GloRilla later tweeted, “Ion internet shit and I don’t do mess! It was an innocent repost yall bsn,” and the pair are now following each other again.) Meanwhile, SZA publicly expressed support for Megan in the comments section of a May 20 Instagram video posted by @theluncheonlawyer. In the video, lawyer and influencer Alicia Luncheon addresses common online attacks and arguments being leveled at Megan in light of Lanez’s claims about new evidence. “The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault ??!” SZA wrote in a May 21 comment. “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ??
