When do Capital Region pools, splash pads and spray parks open for the season?
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- As summer approaches and temperatures start to heat up, a dip in the water might be just what you're looking for. Take a look below for where you can find pools, splash pads, spray parks and pop-jets throughout the Capital Region, as well as their opening dates.
Albany
The city's several spray pads and pop-jets are slated to open on or around Memorial Day. Each location not closed for maintenance will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Albany officials are still trying to finalize the opening dates and hours of the city's three pools -- the Lincoln Park Pool, Arbor Hill Pool and Mater Christi Pool. The Lincoln Park Pool, which has been undergoing a revitalization project since winter 2023, is tentatively scheduled to open on July 4.
Clifton Park
Two of Clifton Park's pools -- the Country Knolls pool and the Barney Road Pool -- will open during Memorial Day weekend on May 25. The town's other pool, the Locust Lane Pool, will open on June 26. All pools will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
The town will offer two Learn to Swim programs beginning in July. The first session will run from July 8 through July 19, and the second will run from July 22 through August 2. Registration is now open and can be completed on the Clifton Park recreation department website.
The pools are also in need of lifeguards. Anyone 15 yeas or older is encouraged to contact Parks and Recreation Director Mike Woerner at (518) 371-6651.
Colonie
The town pool and splashpad at the Colonie Mohawk River Park will partially open on Memorial Day weekend and fully open June 14. A full schedule can be viewed below:
- May 24, 25, 26, 31
- June 1, 7, 8
- June 14 through Sept. 1
The facilities will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Only Colonie town residents will be allowed to use the pool.
Halfmoon
The Spray Park at the Halfmoon Town Park will open on Saturday.
Niskayuna
The Niskayuna Town Pool, located at 2682 Aqueduct Road, will open June 21. Hours vary depending on the time of season:
Early Season - June 21 through 29
- Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
- Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Friday, 2 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Regular Season - June 30 through Aug. 3
- Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Late Season - August 4 through 25
- Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
The pool is cash only, and season and daily passes are available for town and/or school district residents. Fees can be found on the town of Niskayuna website.
Saratoga Springs
The Victoria Pool in the Saratoga Spa State Park is anticipated to open on Saturday. After Memorial Day, the facility will operate only on the weekends until June 21 when both it and the park's Peerless Pool fully open. Hours of operation for both will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The city's splashpads are slated to open on Monday. You can view a full list of locations below:

Schenectady
The city of Schenectady's three pools -- the Central Park Pool, the Quackenbush pool and the Front Street Pool -- will open on June 28. Each pool's 2024 hours can be viewed below:
Central Park Pool
- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. (lap swim only)
- Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (open swim)
- Saturday and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (open swim)
Quackenbush and Front Street pools
- Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (open swim)
- Saturday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (open swim)
- Sunday, closed
The South Troy Pool is slated to open at the end of June. The facility will have open swim from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Most of the city's spray pads are now open, including those in Frear Park, Prospect Park, Corliss Park and Geneva Pompey Park. The spray pads in William Chamberlain Riverfront Park and 112th Street Park are reportedly waiting on mechanical parts to be delivered and are expected to open by early June. Each park is open from dawn to dusk.
The splashpads at South Troy Pool and William Chamberlain Riverfront Park are now open daily from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free to all.
Ulster County
The Ulster County Pool, located at 241 Libertyville Road in New Paltz, will open on June 14. The facility will operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays through Saturdays until September 1.
Entrance fees can be found on the Ulster County website. Since its closure last summer, the pool has underwent a multimillion-dollar repair project.
The swimming pool at Veterans Memorial Park is scheduled to open on June 30. The facility's hours in 2024 were 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Wilton
The Gavin Splash Park will open June 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Access to the facility will cost $2 per person for Wilton residents (cash only) and $5 per person for non-Wilton residents.
