House partially collapses in village of Castleton
CASTLETON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Authorities in the village of Castleton are currently investigating a partial building collapse that occurred on Saturday, according to the Schodack Police Department. The collapse took place at a residence on Mann Drive.
The Castleton Fire Department was reportedly dispatched to the scene at about 3:45 p.m. According to authorities, the hill behind the home had slid away, causing the corner of the house and the end of the road to sink about three to four feet into the ground.
Only the one house appears to be endangered by the hill slide, Schodack police told NEWS10. National Grid shut off power and gas to the residence and the scene was reportedly turned over to the village building inspector to determine the safety of the structure.
Officials from the village of Castleton and the town of Schodack will continue to evaluate the scene over the coming days, authorities said. The public is asked to avoid the area.
