"Sensational" £46m star opens door for summer transfer, he would be a dream signing for Amorim
Manchester United are preparing for a significant squad overhaul this summer as they look to rebuild under head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese tactician has introduced a dynamic 3-4-3 system, and the club must support him in the transfer window by bringing in players who seamlessly fit his philosophy.
Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha is one of the players on United’s radar.
The Brazilian international has been in scintillating form this season, racking up 15 goals and four assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
Cunha has now dropped a major hint about his future, suggesting a summer exit could be on the cards.
He told the Guardian: “Some things you can’t control but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.
“Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step.
“I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
Cunha would be a dream signing for Amorim
The £46 million-rated ace has thrived in the left number 10 role under manager Vitor Pereira.
He could directly slot into Amorim’s system and provide the attacking spark United have sorely lacked this season.
Although Cunha has previously played for Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig, it is at Wolves where he has truly come into his own.
A host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, are interested in signing him this summer.
He has earned plaudits from several pundits, with Alan Shearer previously hailing him as “sensational“.
Joshua Zirkzee has operated in the number 10 role in the last few weeks.
The Dutch international has shown flashes of brilliance in link-up play but has struggled to provide a consistent goal threat.
Cunha, with his flair, directness, and eye for goal, would be a significant upgrade over Zirkzee.
We believe United must make him a priority signing this summer.
