Topeka Boulevard intersection partially reopens after months of road work
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local authorities say an intersection on Topeka Boulevard that has been closed since last year is open once more, with some limitations still in place.
Robert Bidwell with the City of Topeka said in a press release on Friday, March 21 that Topekans can start using the intersection of Southwest 21st Street and Southwest Topeka Boulevard again. It closed for a road work project on Sept. 9, 2024.
Bidwell said that while the intersection is open again for northbound and southbound traffic, some restrictions remain in place. These include:
- Traffic can only use the inside lanes on Topeka Boulevard with one lane going south and another going north.
- Southwest 21st Street is still closed on the east and west sides of Topeka Boulevard. No turns are allowed to or from Southwest 21st Street.
- Drivers will need to keep an eye out for ongoing construction in the intersection and nearby areas. The traffic signal at the intersection is flashing yellow for north/south traffic to remind drivers to slow down and proceed with caution through the work site.
