Urgent recall for Kelly Loves Sushi Ginger sold at Asda and Waitrose as jars may contain pieces of GLASS
SUPERMARKET shoppers are being urged to not eat a popular sushi item after it may have been contaminated with glass.
The sushi ginger has already been removed from shelves but there are fears those who have already purchased the item may be affected.
Kelly Loves has recalled the specific batch as a precautionary measure with customers advised to return the item for a full refund.
The brand, which is sold in Asda and Waitrose, has cited its 150g jars with a best before date of February 9 2026.
Concerned buyers should look out for the batch number UK12019.
It is not thought the brand’s other products have been affected by the recall.
In a statement published by the Food Standards Agency, the company said: “Kelly Loves is recalling specific batch of SUSHI GINGER due to a potential risk of glass contamination.
“While the product has been removed from shelves as precautionary measure, we are now extending the recall to consumers who may have purchased the affected product.
“Other Kelly Loves Sushi Ginger batches/products are not affected by this recall.
“Customers are advised not to consume this product batch. We would like you to kindly return the affected product to the store you purchased from, and you will be granted a full refund (no receipt required).
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation.”
It follows another urgent recall impacting Asda shoppers after a children’s toy was found to be a potential choking hazard.
The supermarket has pulled its range of Hapello Sensory Rollers after discovering they may contain small pieces of plastic that could become dislodged.
The product’s barcode is 5063089161708 and would have been sold between August 2023 and this month.
Asda has told shoppers who purchased the affected batch to “stop using it immediately”.
It added: “We have found that in a small number of cases, batch #36 of Hapello may pose a risk of choking due to the potential release of a small piece of plastic lodged in the toy in the manufacturing process.”
A full refund will be given without the need for a receipt.
