Five men arrested for stopping traffic by twerking around and on car
Police officers have to be ready for all kinds of trouble and one cop was forced to step in when a group of men were caught twerking around a car.
A local police officer spotted the four shaking their behinds in front of a 2016 Chevy Malibu stopped at a green light.
A fifth man was also dancing on the ‘dancing on the car’s hood’ as the motor was stationary at at an intersection in downtown Memphis, Tennessee in the US.
Metro can confirm there is no mention of twerking in the official ‘Memphis Police Department Policy and Procedures’ manual.
The five alleged twerkers, identified as Rashaun Bryant, 22, Mandre’Co Mays, 18, MeKell Sanders, 18, Jordan Smith, 19, and Desmond Subbery, 18, were all arrested. Each man is set to appear in court next week charged with obstructing a highway or passageway.
Bryant, Sanders, Mays and Subbery were released on their own recognizance.
Smith’s bond was set at $2,100. Police said he had a warrant for vandalism.
A Memphis Police Department affidavit obtained by WREG said the officer cut the dance party short so the offence ‘would not happenagain’.
The quintet blocked traffic at South Second Street and Union Avenue, roughly three blocks east of the Mississippi River, on Monday night.
Sanders could be seen smiling in his mugshot released by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, as the rest of the line-up included a bright red-haired Bryant and a somewhat blank looking Smith and Mays.
Subbery also fixed a blank expression on his face underneath his bleached blonde hair.
The five were busted nearly six years after a drunk woman twerked on a cop while screaming ‘arrest me’, and was taken into custody.
A video showed the 17-year-old woman in Newbridge, South Wales, attempting to twerk on the police officer while shouting, ‘I’m waiting for you to arrest me. Arrest me with your c**k.’
