Topeka Mexican restaurant, grocery store temporarily closes
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A local Mexican restaurant and grocery store in north Topeka reports it will be closed for one day.
Supermarket El Torito in Topeka announced in a social media post on Monday, Feb. 3 that it will be closed for the day. The business reported it is closing Monday to support the Latin American community.
Restaurants in multiple cities across the nation announced closures on Feb. 3 as part of a 'day without immigrants,' according to a report from The Hill. Many of these businesses cited recent actions by President Donald Trump on immigration crackdowns and an increased focus on removing immigrants who are in the country illegally as being the reason behind the protest.
Supermarket El Torito can be found at 3000 Northwest Topeka Boulevard and first opened its doors in Topeka in 2018. You can visit its website by clicking here.
