New Paltz man charged for fatal Kingston pedestrian crash
ROSENDALE, N.Y (NEWS10)-- New York State Police arrested a New Paltz man on Friday for hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Alex B. Brown, 24, is facing multiple charges.
Troopers said the crash happened Thursday at 8:19 p.m. on Route 32. Victoria Cooper, 37, of Kingston, entered the roadway and was hit by a 2013 Toyota driving north operated by Brenda Fisher, 74, of Kingston.
Cooper was knocked into the southbound lane, and Troopers said she was run over by Brown, who was driving a 2008 Subaru Forester. Fisher stayed on the scene and called 911 while Brown fled the scene.
Troopers pronounced Cooper dead on the scene. Brown was arraigned in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment and remains in Ulster County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Anyone with information about the crash should contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at (845) 338-1702 and reference case number 2500042656. Brown is scheduled to appear in Rosendale Town Court on Wednesday, January 22, at 5 p.m.
