Manhattan hospital is named one of the best in maternity care in 2025; U.S. News
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - A Manhattan hospital is being recognized nationally for its maternity care for the fourth year in a row.
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan announced in a news release that it has been named a 2025 High Performing hospital for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report. The report is "a global authority in hospital ranking and consumer advice, according to the news release.
The hospital received high performing honors based on strong performances in the following key areas: low rates of severe unexpected newborn complications, implementation of birthing friendly practices and commitment to transparency on racial and ethnic disparities, according to the news release.
“Receiving this recognition by U.S. News for four consecutive years reflects the unwavering dedication of our maternal care teams at the Birth and Women's Center to provide exceptional care with compassion and expertise,” said Bob Copple, hospital president. “We are proud to offer mothers and newborns the highest standard of care during such an important time in their lives."
"The hospitals recognized by U.S. News as Best Hospitals for maternity care showcase exceptional care for expectant parents," said Jennifer Winston, Pf.D, health data scientist at U.S. News. "These hospitals demonstrate significantly lower C-section rates and severe unexpected newborn complications compares to hospitals not recognized by U.S. News."
According to U.S. News and World Report, four other Kansas hospitals were deemed "high performing in maternity care: University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS, Advent Health Shawnee Mission in Shawnee Mission, KS, Amberwell Health-Atchison in Atchison, KS and Ascension Via Christi Hospital Wichita in Wichita, KS.
