St. Landry Sheriff: Three arrested, accused of planning robbery in undercover drug sting
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Three Lafayette men were arrested last week as a result of an undercover drug sting, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office announced.
According to a news release, SLPSO detectives were undercover to purchase four pounds of marijuana.
"Narcotics deputies, well familiar with the deceptive practices used by drug dealers, concluded through telephone communications, that the criminal parties involved planned to rob the undercover officers and possibly harm them," Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said in the news release.
The following were arrested as a result of the undercover operation:
- Rondell Williams, 30, of Lafayette, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery, misrepresentation during booking.
- Cordell Batiste, 26, of Lafayette, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
- Drake Batiste, 26, of Lafayette, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
The sheriff's office said Williams is accused of using a false name at the time of booking.
