GET READY TO SKI IN 2025

SKIING AT POWDER MOUNTAIN
Equal parts deep pow, picturesque, and pristine, Powder Mountain has welcomed outdoor revelers for generations. In the early 20th century, Frederick Cobabe accumulated 8,000 acres of Wasatch Mountain land as range for his sheep herd. His son Alvin eventually purchased the livestock company and land from him, turning it into a ski resort in 1972. The resort quickly became a coveted local’s destination.

Even as the land has changed hands over the years, growing to become the nation’s largest multi-season ski resort by acerage, it’s always done so while retaining its history, ecosystem, and authentic character. For the last 8 years this massive playground has embarked on an ambitious development plan including more lifts and resort facilities.

This will be NASTC’s 3rd year running a camp at PowMow. We encourge you to check it out with us. You will very likely ski untracked every day on the 5 lifts; it is a shockingly private and expansive powder skiing experience. We’ll use the snowcats to do extra laps, accessing even more powder. And we’ll work on technique and tactics to improve your powder skiing as well as your all-mountain mastery.

We rent an amazing house 10 min from the resort, and hire a private chef to cook for our fun group dinners.

SPONSOR FOCUS: ROSSIGNOL

As skiing enthusiasts and ski equipment gurus, or even if you have just skied a long time, you probably remember a lot of beautiful skis. We are Rossignol devotees, and believe you don’t need to look any further than their annual line for your complete quiver.

Let’s take a look at the most important 2025 Rossignol skis for an all-mountain, all-conditions skier like yourself.

THE ARCADE 88 & 84
Rossignol has added some skis to their frontside all-mountain lineup. Let’s talk first about the Arcade 88 and Arcade 84. Both these skis are designed to serve that top-end skier looking for high performance on trail, with some versatility to go off the trail too. The Arcade 88 handles higher speeds and longer turns, while the 84 will be more snappy and like shorter turns. You’ve got a full metal sheet in the 88, with just a central metal underfoot in the 84.

SOUL SENDER 102
The new Rossignol Sender Soul 102 takes its lead from the Sender Free 110 which was such a hit last season. It offers the same playful, deeply rockered tip of the 110 with a flatter, more traditional tail. It’s no carving ski, however there is enough rocker to keep things easy to release.

These skis contain the classic Rossi tech that we love so much: the Air Tip tech up front to keep things light, and a titanal beam underfoot that does not extend into the tip and tail. The flex is softer than the Sender 110 which makes it feel both more accessible and also less freeride-oriented.

THE FORZA
With only a few changes since its debut last season, the 2025 Rossignol Forza V-70 returns in all its glory. The Rossignol Forza 70 V-Ti is a GREAT CHOICE for advanced and expert skiers who PRIORITIZE CARVING. While the Forza is not the race ski that Rossi presents in the Hero line, the Forza does bring on-piste skiing to the forefront. With a wider overall shape and an oversized sidecut, skiers can achieve high edge angles and deep turns while enjoying a ski that maintains some versatility. Note, the 70 is not waist width; rather it indicates the intended edge angle and level of aggressiveness. These skis are super-fun and perfect for you if you spend a lot of time on groomed terrain.

SUPER BLACKOPS 98
Rossignol has released a limited edition of this go-to, in fluorescent pink and zebra! With exceptional versatility, this ski adapts to all conditions through powder or carve. With a dynamic wood core and energy-boosting tetanal layers, you get an exceptionally good feel. It’s a ski that’s grippy, maneuverable and precise. Take this one far off the groomers, explore any conditions out there, and make your own tracks!

OUR FRIEND JEFF

On January 10, 2023, our friend Jeff Hamilton died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56. It’s impossible to encapsulate this amazing human here; among many talents and traits he was the fastest skier on earth. He won bronze at The Olympics. In the last months of his life, he worked with his family and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation to create a philanthropic fund that would allow him to continue to give after he was gone.

Maybe you met Jeff at a NASTC camp; he gave presentations and showed his “60 Minutes Special, Fastest Man on Skis.”  But whether you knew him or not, you are a lover of mountains, of all things skiing, and of protecting our mountain community…just like Jeff.

You can read here about Jeff, his Legacy Fund, and the very impactful work the Fund is doing to give back in a permanent way!

We thank you for your willingness and participation in this important vision.
