Hopefully his teammates picked up the tab after the Schenectady freshman blazed the SEFCU Arena track Sunday with a personal-best time of 6.65 seconds to win the 55 meters and earn a berth in next week's state championship meet at Cornell University.
Brown's pre-race focus centered on getting a good, clean start and once accomplished, he took the lead and nipped Schalmont's Leo Pavoldi (6.67) at the wire for the win.
Shenendehowa sophomore Shawn Bleichert saved his best effort for the 55-meter hurdles finals with his personal-best winning time of 7.89 seconds, edging Devon Willis (Schalmont) and Isaiah Turek (Ichabod Crane).
The pair quickly separated from the pack with Driscoll taking the early lead and holding on despite Triller staying a kick behind for the final three laps.
Sarah Osaheni (Shenendehowa) won the 55-meter hurdles with a close win over Jaleah Owens (Burnt Hills) and qualified in the triple jump despite finishing second to Eva Kiehl (Columbia), who set a school record with her jump of 36-113/4.
