Top-35 prospect Davion Hannah shuffles official visits, plans to narrow down schools soon

By SAM LANCE

BRANSON, MO — Class of 2025 four-star guard Davion Hannah will not be taking his originally scheduled visit to Michigan State this weekend, he told ZAGSBLOG.

Hannah —  6-foot-5, 180-pound guard out of Link Academy — has just one official visit left on his schedule now. That will be Cincinnati from Oct. 4-6. He will not take any others. Hannah has previously taken official visits to Ohio State (Sept. 20), Missouri (Sept. 7) and Alabama (Aug. 31).

He broke down all of these trips to ZAGSBLOG:

Alabama: “I mean, it was Alabama. I went to a football game, the season opener, and it was definitely what I expected. Alabama is — they’re family. It was definitely a vibe. Everything was going great, all of the fans and stuff. The area, the school is nice. Nice campus. Great people. I got a chance to hang with a couple players [Labaron Philon, Aiden Sherrell and Aden Holloway] and stuff and got to know them personally. Asked them questions not just about Link, because we have some people that went there from Link, but just about Alabama too. How good is Nate Oats? And just the rest of the people that’s around the team. It was definitely a great visit.”

Missouri: “So I enjoyed that visit. I went to a football game there too. Their football team is pretty good. But coach [Dennis] Gates, he is definitely a great person, basketball wise and a great person off the court. I got to basically meet his family, meet with the team at his house. Eat food, just get to know everybody. Introduce himself to me and my family. It felt like it was very family orientated. That’s big.”

Ohio State: “I just got back from Ohio State. All of the coaches and stuff were great. My dad is from Ohio. So it was great to be back to where he’s from. And not just see the school, but get to know the players and stuff. Some funny guys and some nice people to hang out with. Aaron Bradshaw, he’s a cool dude. John Mobley, he was a great dude. He’s a freshman upcoming there. Just watching him, and me seeing how they will use him — utilize him and stuff — it was good.”

On Jake Diebler: “Last year they picked him up, and from the games he had, he changed the program around. You see that he’s a great coach and he’s definitely going to build something good there for sure.”

A top four schools list is looming for Hannah, and after that drops he will decide on a commitment date. He currently has a top nine of Alabama, Cincinnati, Louisville, Michigan State, NC State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Xavier, with Missouri added to that mix.

Hannah is ranked the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports. The guard will be a key piece for Link Academy this season as they go for a title at Chipotle Nationals.

“My first three years, I went to state at public school and lost all three years,” Hannah, the Milwaukee native, said. “So the way I’m thinking, like I moved to the big national stage for my senior year with a great group of people and coaches, so now this is my time to actually win something meaningful. I think we can definitely accomplish that for real.”

Hannah gave thoughts on several of his teammates below:

Jerry Easter: ” “I’m definitely excited [to play with him]. Jerry, he grew up on the same block that my dad grew up on. And growing up playing basketball, he was always on the internet, so I’ve always seen him. And he’s nice. But now I actually get to play with him and get to know him personally, on and off the court. So far, it’s definitely been going great. We’re definitely getting closer and closer. I’m starting to learn his personality more, starting to mess with him more for sure. It’ll definitely be a nice season.”

Chris Cenac: “He brings everything. He can stretch the floor. He’s aggressive. He’s a paint presence. He’s a defender. He knows how to play the right way. He’s just — this is actually going to be my first time playing with an actual big body for real. So it’s going to be good this season for sure.”

Amare Bynum: “Same thing with Amare. I played against him this summer. He was stretching the floor, finishing over people just like Chris. And he’s a big body. Big paint presence. He can do everything. He’s willing to step in front of somebody to stop them with his body. Both of them are very aggressive. They are going to have to pick their poison for real.”
