TOPEKA (KSNT) - Numerous local athletes are preparing to hit the road this weekend for a good cause.
Project 2 Restore is hosting the third annual walk-run 5k the morning of Saturday, Aug. 24 along Lake Shawnee. Money raised from this event goes to help and shelter victims of sex trafficking.
Organizers say it is a growing problem which has impacted more than 59 million people around the world.
"These are, children, they are women, they are.. there are boys, girls, all ages are being sexually exploited and the demand is increasing," Angela Boles, executive director of Project 2 Restore said.
Project 2 Restore is around halfway to its goal of raising $20,000 but there is still time to sign up. You can do so by clicking here.
