1. Canajoharie, Fort Plain school districts conducting a merger study
The Canajoharie and Fort Plain Central School Districts are starting to explore a possible merger. They are currently looking into the feasibility of banding together through a study. The two districts appointed members from the community to an advisory committee that had its first meeting on Wednesday.
2. Mechanicville native Chad Brown seeks first Travers win
Travers week is underway at the Saratoga Race Course and there are a ton of storylines heading into Saturday’s Travers Stakes. Thorpedo Anna will look to become the first filly to win the Travers since 1915. Then there’s trainer Chad Brown, the Mechanicville native, looking for his first Travers win, with a quarter of this year’s field.
3. Police seize over 8 pounds of meth in Troy drug bust
The Troy Police Department reported the arrest of Terrence Ravenell, 28, of Troy, following an operation on Lincoln Avenue on August 20. Ravenell is facing multiple felony drug and weapon charges.
4. Local libraries giving out original trading cards

5. Moment of silence held at Saratoga Race Course in honor of John Hendrickson
It was a somber day at the Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday. Fans, jockeys and trainers paused to honor philanthropist John Hendrickson, who died unexpectedly on Monday. He was 59 years old.
