Mechanicville football tops Stillwater in Indian Bowl
Senior running back Chase DeLossantos sliced his way to a career-best 328 yards rushing and six touchdowns as the Red Raiders won the Indian Bowl for the first time since 2010 with a resounding 46-6 victory over the Warriors in Class C Central Division play.
Stillwater won at Mechanicville 17-14 in 2013 and the Warriors — behind five touchdown passes by John Danison — stunned the Red Raiders 34-16 at Stillwater two years ago.
Mechanicville (3-1 overall, 2-1 division) suffered a stinging 10-7 loss at Voorheesville last week when DeLossantos was limited to a season-low 152 yards rushing.
Running the ball well was certainly not an issue for Mechanicville as DeLossantos helped break things open in the second quarter as he added to his two TD runs in the opening quarter by delivering scoring runs covering 81, 28 and 56 yards.
On the other two second-quarter TD runs, the senior standout patiently utilized blocks by senior lineman Brennan Fleming to reach the end zone.
DeLossantos closed out the scoring with a three-yard touchdown plunge for his first career six-touchdown performance.
