‘Their parents are morons & the name is stupid’ people slate mum but she hits back insisting child’s moniker ISN’T weird
CHOOSING a baby name can be hard, and you can’t please everyone with your final decision.
However, one mum has come under fire for one of her kids’ names which is rather unusual indeed.
The mum revealed on TikTok how her daughters were called Khaymbree and Pharkyr – but the second one may not be pronounced how you’d imagine.
One follower asked her if the girl’s name was pronounced like “Farker”.
The mum replied: “Omg someone else literally said the same thing.
“Like no, what about that looks like Farker?”
She revealed that “Pharkyr” is actually said like “Park-ear”.
This didn’t satisfy the viewer, however, who pointed out that “ph” words are usually pronounced as an “f.”
The mum defended her decision and hit back saying: “It’s pronounced how I say it’s pronounced tho.”
Many people were quick to chime in with their views on the unusual name.
One said: “Nah. This one is criminal.”
Another added: “I feel so bad for teachers who have to tell kids with stupid names like these, gently, that their parents are morons and their name is stupid.”
A third commented: “I’m terrified of our society’s future.”
It’s not the only baby name pronunciation which has proved divisive.
One woman came to the realisation ten days after naming her child that she had been pronouncing the moniker all wrong.
To make matters worse, after introducing her new tot to the world, the mum decided she hated the name under the correct pronunciation.

The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.

Seeking support, the mum took to the baby names thread in Mumsnet asking for advice on whether it is too late to change it now.
The mum said: “Before she was born we had a shortlist of three for a girl, when she arrived DH admitted one of them (my favourite) he just couldn’t get on board with as a first name. That has become the middle name (Cecilia).”
“Of the other two options we were totally undecided but eventually went for Elise, a name we’ve always really liked” she added.
Since announcing her choice to friends and family, the parents realised that they had been pronouncing the name wrong this whole time.
“We’ve now discovered that lots of people pronounce it Eh – leess (with the second part as ‘lease’ like in leasehold). We had always thought it was Eh- leez, and we much prefer that” she said
“We’ve found that almost everyone so far has pronounced it Eh – lease with a soft s. Are we wrong to pronounce it eh-leez?” she asked.
Many parents have replied to reassure the mum that she has every right to change the name, or even just the spelling should she wish.
“Many congratulations! You’ve got two beautiful names there, but I have to admit my default pronunciation of Elise is with the soft s as in the original French” commented one person.
Adding: “If it’ll annoy you (and it will!) perhaps you need a rethink on her first name. Eloise is similar and would give you the z sound you like.”
Another said: “I would pronounce it as Eh-lease but as someone’s mentioned above I would just change the spelling to Elize.”
