I’m 49 & everyone says I look 10 years younger – my routine helps, a British friend said I wouldn’t last in the UK

AN age-defying appearance that leaves people thinking you’re a decade younger is achievable, revealed a mom.

She shared the lifestyle factors that keep her skin youthful and body energized in midlife.

Tracy Campoli has garnered over 257,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she shares health and fitness tips.

The wellness coach is also the founder of the workout plan Total Body Transformation.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared the anti-aging secrets she swears by at 49.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Campoli said she once had acne on one side of her face due to secretly eating junk and sugary foods.

She now recommends a nutritious diet and reducing stress for optimal skin health. 

“I haven’t dieted or done the crazy stuff I used to do in my early teens and my twenties for 20 years now,” she said.

“I eat real food. I eat everything but generally eat pretty healthy — a lot of fruit and vegetables.

“All the treatments in the world don’t matter if you’re eating crappy food.”

She said being a mom also inspires her to want to stay healthy.

After not eating McDonald’s for 15 years, she said taking friends visiting from Italy to the fast food restaurant tasted “gross.”

Campoli admits her healthy diet has made her a “food snob” and she stays away from anything “low quality.”

“If I’m gonna eat pizza, it better be the best pizza,” she said.

“I’m not going to eat Domino’s, but I’ll eat this amazing thin crust really authentic pizza.

I enjoy a martini but I’m a one-and-done. My British friend is like, ‘You would never last in the UK.’

“If I’m gonna eat cheese, it’s not gonna be like Velveeta or a yellow nasty cheese, it’s gonna be something really delicious and that you’re really savoring.”

She also describes herself as a “big label reader” when it comes to determining nutritional value.

CHUG, CHUG, CHUG

Despite having been a trainer for 25 years, she said staying hydrated is still challenging — but she drinks at least eight glasses a day.

“I have a little glass water bottle because I try to keep it chic,” she said. 

She also likes matcha, which has skin benefits thanks to the antioxidants.

…BUT NOT BOOZE

Campoli said menopause has affected how much alcohol she can drink.

“I used to be a big wine girl, I’m Italian,” she said.

“I’d have a glass of wine or two but I just find my body can’t process the sugar anymore.

“I enjoy a martini but I’m a one-and-done. My British friend is like, ‘You would never last in the UK.”

TAKE YOUR VITAMINS

Vitamin D3, magnesium, and vitamin B are among the dietary supplements that Campoli swears by.

She said they keep her energized and support decreasing bone density in menopause. 

“I shout magnesium from the rooftops for stress relief and encouraging sleep,” she said.

“I’ve probably been taking magnesium for about 15 years.”

CHILL OUT

Campoli said managing stress and creating a life that you’re happy with maintains healthy skin texture. 

“If we’re always frowning, unhappy, or stressed out, it shows up through your skin,” she said.

Despite research showing nine hours of sleep is optimal for women, Campoli said she has just seven a night. 

She turns off her phone to avoid any disturbances but her 4-year-old daughter often comes into her bed.

“I feel pretty good if I get seven hours of sleep,” she said. 

“I do hormone replacement therapy which also helps with my energy.”

STEP INTO ACTION

Campoli said movement makes a big difference to her wellbeing and living in Miami allows her to walk outside year-round.

She confessed to focusing on how exercise boosts her brain function and relieves stress rather than how her physique looks.

She enjoys 30-minute Total Body Transformation workouts and reformer pilates.

“Resistance training is really important, so I do pilates on the reformer to give me some extra resistance,” she said.

“I do that twice a week and I do a lot of walking, especially in the last few months as my stress levels have been rising and I’m getting busy.

“I find that the days where I get a lot more movement I feel so much better.”

Create a life that you’re happy with and a body that lets you do all the things that you want to do.

Campoli said she keeps her phone in her pocket to track her steps with the Health app.

She aims to get at least 10,000 steps five days a week but sometimes she can do up to 16,000.

“I’m a kid of the seventies and eighties,” she said. 

“Women around my age, grew up with aerobics and cardio, no one ever talked about lifting a weight.

“A lot of trainers, usually it’s men, will give me crap.

“I’m 5-foot-1 and a very muscular person even in menopause.

“If I were to do CrossFit, I would look crazy and it wouldn’t be the look that I want.

“But I personally believe we need to do resistance training.”

She said exercising for up to 30 minutes a day and hitting daily step counts is essential for hormone function.

However, she recommends avoiding workout classes and runs that last an hour or longer as it can “wear and tear” the body.

Campoli said your “cellular age” can be reversed with healthy habits even if you were once a smoker or drank heavily. 

“When I taught Pilates, I had clients from 13 years old to 86,” she said.

“And to see that at 86, you can improve your posture and having better posture you’re gonna look younger, you’re gonna look healthier.

“Aging is a gift that is unavoidable,” she continued.

“Create a life that you’re happy with and a body that lets you do all the things that you want to do.

“You are worth taking care of and feeling good, looking and feeling your best.

“Stress relief, hydration, and again, being a generally happy person reflects on the outside.”

Campoli previously shared her daily beauty routine with The U.S. Sun.

Among her favorite anti-aging products are a “really rich” serum, sunscreen, and hyaluronic acid.

She also has an Epsom salt bath multiple times a week and keeps makeup minimal.
