A few dozen Global News employees lost their job this week when Corus layoffs hit Global News. It's been a terrible month for Corus, whose stock currently sits at 20 cents. Last week, Warner Bros. Discovery signed a deal with Rogers to air their programming, choosing not to renew with Corus.

The few dozen journalists at Global News who were victims of these Corus cuts include some high profile FOTMs: Farah Nasser and Alan Carter.
Farah Nasser dropped by for episode 892 and we talked about her media stops on the way to co-anchoring Global Toronto's 5:30pm and 6pm newscast alongside Alan Carter, her experiences as a Muslim woman, and the value of on-air chemistry.

Alan Carter, Farah's aforementioned co-anchor, dropped by for episode 583. We talked about him being tasered by police, anchoring Global News at 5:30 and 6 with Farah Nasser, hosting Focus Ontario on television and The Alan Carter Radio Program on Global News Radio Talk 640.

I loved both chats, and have great respect for both of these fine journalists. I feel awful for everyone presented with a folder from Corus HR this month. I'm personally tired of writing these articles, but I fear it will get worse before it gets better.
