Back to tiny
Hello Friends,
Well things didn’t exactly go to plan. Yesterday it looked as though we’d have shoulder-plus energy today, but this morning sees no sign of it. There were a couple of folks sitting at the point, but I saw no obvious reason. There were little knee to waist high waves along the beach and the Bureau says the swell should perk up a bit, so check your fave south magnets if you’re keen for a wave.
Swell at sea was 1.4 metres at 9 seconds from the SSE. Wind was coming from the west at 12-17 kts and skies were mostly clear. Tide was coming into the modest 1.3 metre high at 1120.
Outlook this morning on the models is for the waves to get smaller until late Wednesday when a solid south pulse into the 3 metre range starts to fill in and then is sustained into early next week. Indeed, if the GFS model has it right, next Sunday could be massive (3-4+ metres). But that’s a week away, and weather systems being what they are… we’ll see!
Go well with your holiday Monday!
Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over the Tasman Sea will bring fresh to locally strong south to southwesterly winds on Monday, easing Tuesday morning as the trough moves away. The winds will then tend fresh to strong northwesterly during Tuesday as a cold front approaches from the west. Strong to possibly gale force west to southwesterly winds are expected on Wednesday in the wake of the front, particularly in the south.
