‘We’re going to make an impact’ – Postecoglou makes Europa League prediction for Spurs
Ange Postecoglou has insisted that not being in Europe this season actually hurt Tottenham’s development and confidently asserted that the club will make a big dent in the Europa League next season.
Spurs fell short in their quest to qualify for the Champions League, with Aston Villa pipping them to a fourth-place finish at the end after the Lilywhites had a poor run of results in the last couple of months.
However, it is fair to say that Tottenham fans are not too downbeat about the side’s failure to qualify for Europe’s premier club tournament.
Many understandably feel that the side would have a much better shot at going all the way in the Europa League while also acknowledging that not being in the Champions League would make the club better equipped to perhaps challenge the top Premier League sides next season.
Postecoglou is looking forward to the Europa League
Postecoglou admitted that he is looking forward to the competition next season, insisting that Tottenham deserve to be in Europe.
When asked about coping with the extra games that will come with European qualification next season, the Australian told Football.London: “We’re looking forward to that. It’s another challenge for us and we’ll be ready for it. I think not having European football this year probably hurt us a little bit in terms of our development. This club deserves to be in Europe and hopefully, we’re going to make an impact next year.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Ange probably feels that the more games that would have come with European football would have helped the Tottenham players adapt quicker to the system.
He might also feel that many squad players would have got more of an opportunity to showcase their qualities, which did not happen in the last few months since Spurs only had one game a week.
