Three Tottenham youngsters nominated for PL2 Player of the Season award
After a fantastic season for Tottenham’s Under-21 side in the Premier League 2, Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley, and Jude Soonsup-Bell have all been nominated for the division’s Player of the Season award.
Tottenham‘s Under-21s finished top of the Premier League 2 table this year, with a four-point lead over second-placed West Ham.
Unfortunately, that’s not enough to lift the trophy, with the top 16 teams in the division taking part in knockout football to determine the ultimate winner. Tottenham’s youngsters are into the play-off final after overcoming Chelsea in a 2-1 win today in the semi-final.
Whether they win the top prize or not remains to be seen, but we do know that a trio of Spurs players are up for a big award on an individual level.
Donley, Lankshear, and Soonsup-Bell up for award
The Premier League has announced the shortlist for the Player of the Season award, and Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, and Jude Soonsup-Bell are all in the running.
Donley, who has had minor involvements with the first team this season, has registered five goals and 12 assists in the Premier League 2 campaign (Transfermarkt) and has been pulling the strings in the number 10 role.
Lankshear has arguably been the brightest star this term, though, with an incredible return of 18 goals in 19 games for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).
Fellow forward, Soonsup-Bell, has also contributed 10 goals and 6 assists (Transfermarkt).
The winner of the award will be announced on May 22nd.
Spurs Web Opinion
All of that Spurs Under-21 side have been phenomenal this season, but I think Will Lankshear has to take the award.
His goalscoring returns have been incredible, and he’s well and truly led the line in style this season. I can’t wait to see him in the first team one day, but a loan spell is more likely next season.
