9:30 p.m. — Previously, on “The Amazing Race”! In the Episode 9, teams traveled to the Dominican Republic, where the final five pairs had to complete two Roadblocks. Boyfriends Ricky & Cesar hit the Pit Stop first for the sixth time this season. Girlfriends Yvonne & Melissa hit the mat last and became the ninth team eliminated. Let’s finish the race!
9:40 p.m. — This finale begins at Sosua Beach in the Dominican Republic. Teams jump off a boat and swim out to a buoy to retrieve the first clue — a Detour. In “Dive Trip,” teams must properly assemble four dive rigs and then load them onto a boat. Once the captain gives them a thumbs up, they’ll help launch the boat to get their next clue. In “Rum Sour,” teams must take drink orders from six spirited pirates and then mix things up as bartenders. If the pirates get exactly what they’ve ordered, it’s bottoms up when teams get a clue. Ricky & Cesar are in first place, choosing the drink challenge, followed by Rod & Leticia who choose the same.
9:50 p.m. — Leticia is a former bartender and feels like this challenge is perfect for her. She’s already mixing drinks when Ricky & Cesar arrive at the bar. Back at the boat, Juan & Shane and Amber & Vinny have just started the race in Group 2. Both teams in the second group reach the bar as the top teams are mixing their last drinks. Ricky & Cesar accidentally mix an extra one, but still finish first and receive the next clue. They’ll travel by taxi to Cabarete Beach to find their next clue. Rod & Leticia take off in second place.
10:00 p.m. — As Rod & Leticia ride to the next Roadblock, Rod reminds us that he’s done his quota and can’t do anymore. That means Leticia is going to have to carry the team today and she’s a little scared. Too bad the cocktails weren’t a Roadblock, all Rod did in that challenge was hand them out. Ricky & Cesar and Rod & Leticia reach the clue box at the same time. It’s the Roadblock. In “Who Wants to Take a Stand?” one team member must windsurf for 60 seconds. On Leticia’s first attempt she gets hit in the head with the sail pipe. Not a good way to start. She gets back up and knocks this challenge out on her second attempt, leaving Ricky & Cesar in the dust. The married couple will now travel by taxi to Olympus Beach and find their clue on one of the dune buggies. Meanwhile, Juan & Shane have finished the Detour in third place, leaving Amber & Vinny in last.
10:15 p.m. — At the Roadblock, Ricky is on his 14th attempt at windsurfing when Juan arrives to challenge him. Amber & Vinny aren’t far behind — and Vinny (a former surfer) hops in the water with Ricky and Juan. Juan is the first to finish and he and Shane take off in second place. Vinny takes his first attempt while Ricky is on his 21st. Ricky finally completes this while the pressure is on. Vinny finishes on just his second attempt though, so they’re just seconds behind third place. It’s a close race to the dune buggies! Rod & Leticia arrive first and the clue tells them they’ll drive the dune buggies to the next Pit Stop at Wilson’s Bar. After driving their dune buggies to the beach, they’ll kayak with all their might to the bar to avoid this final elimination. Rod & Leticia arrive first (winning a five-night trip for two to Rome, Italy), followed by Juan & Shane and Ricky & Cesar. Amber & Vinny arrive last and get eliminated in fourth place. Vinny turns Amber’s frown upside down by asking her to marry him on the mat.
10:25 p.m. — For the final leg of the race, the final three teams fly to Philadelphia. Teams open their clues on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and are instructed to drive themselves to Lincoln Financial Field. Things just always seem to fall into place for Ricky & Cesar, and sure enough, Ricky was born and raised in Philadelphia. Rod & Leticia are on the boyfriends heels, following them down the highway. Meanwhile, Juan & Shane have to stop for directions. Rod & Leticia open the clue first. The Roadblock asks, “Who’s Got Team Spirit?” It’s another one Leticia will have to complete. In this challenge one team member must become an “Amazing Race” mascot and run a mascot training drill, maneuvering through an obstacle course and hit a target with a t-shirt cannon. Ricky chooses to do it for the guys. Of course, Ricky was a mascot in high school. Juan & Shane arrive soon after and Shane is completely this task for the pilots. Ricky makes quick work of the obstacle course, leaving Leticia and Shane behind.
10:30 p.m. — Teams will race to Geno’s Steak to get their next clue. Ricky knows exactly where to go because he is from Philadelphia. By the time Leticia hits her target, it’s too late to follow them. Shane isn’t far behind, and he and Juan ask someone who works at the arena to use his phone to look up directions. Ricky & Cesar arrive to the clue box first, and it instructs them to drive to Headhouse Square for their next clue. Rod & Leticia get there second. At Headhouse Square, teams are told to recite the preamble to the Declaration of Independence to get their next clue.
10:45 p.m. — Bad news for Juan and Shane. As they drive to Geno’s, Shane quickly realizes they’ve landed in New Jersey. Wrong way! They have to turn around and find their way back. Apparently they got directions to Pat’s Pizza instead of Pat’s Steakhouse. Whoopsie! Meanwhile, Rod & Leticia arrive and whoever recites this declaration the fastest will have a huge advantage heading to that final mat. Memorizing words is not Rod’s strong suit. Ricky & Cesar fail their first attempt because Ricky forgot a word. Rod & Leticia also fail — and Rod is a hot mess. Ricky & Cesar finish on the second attempt and continue forward. They’ll drive to Betsy Ross House to find their next clue. The Roadblock is “Who Wants to Earn Their Stripes?” They’ll listen to a lecture and piece together America’s first official flag. Cesar will complete this task.
11:00 p.m. — Rod & Leticia finally finished reciting the Declaration of Independence as Juan & Shane arrive. But how far behind are they? Up at the Roadblock, Cesar finishes pretty quickly and they run to the next clue box, which instructs them to solve a three-dimensional Liberty Bell puzzle to receive their final clue. They make quick work of that and will now race to the finish line at Glen Foerd Estate. Back at the Liberty Bell puzzle, Juan & Shane pass up Rod & Leticia and take over second place. But they’re way too far behind. Hitting the mat in first place are Ricky & Cesar, who have dominated the race all season long. Juan & Shane settle for second followed by Rod & Leticia in third.
Leg 10 results:
1. Ricky & Cesar
2. Juan & Shane
