One person dies following collision in Redwood City
One person died following a collision Tuesday night on Interstate 280 near the Edgewood Road offramp in Redwood City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 10:07 p.m., a GMC was stalled blocking the interstate’s third lane on the southbound side, said CHP Officer Sophie Lu. Two vehicles stopped on the right shoulder to offer the car assistance, with two people exiting one of the cars.
A BMW was traveling in the third lane at an unknown speed and hit both the stalled vehicle and one of the assisting vehicles, Lu said.
One person was pronounced deceased, Lu said. Two parties were transported to a hospital, one for major injuries and the other for minor injuries.
The CHP has an ongoing investigation into the incident, Lu said. The person killed will be identified publicly after authorities confirm their name and notify their next of kin.
