B&M shoppers rush to buy ‘must-have’ hot weather gadget scanning for £5 instead of £20 and it’s the cheapest around
B&M shoppers can’t get enough of a gadget to keep you cool that’s scanning for just £5.
The discounter is known for selling everything from DIY, to electricals, food and other bargain items.
And shoppers can’t get enough of one the retailer’s latest products which is bound to keep you cool in the heat.
The Chillmax Go Fan is on sale at most other retailers for £18 or more, but B&M has it in stock for £5 instead of £20.
A shopper recently spotted the bargain deal in their local branch, posting a photo of their find online.
Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, they said: “Went to B&M to get a fan each.
“These were on the shelf for £5 each. Reachable so can be clipped onto prams/beds.”
The post has notched up dozens of comments and likes from shoppers keen to snap one of the must-have devices up.
One said: “Need two of these for babies.”
Meanwhile, a second, who has already bought one, added: “These are so good.”
Of course, always remember to shop around when buying anything like this as you might find it cheaper elsewhere.
You can use websites like Price Runner and Price Spy that let you compare thousands of products across different retailers.
You can also use the Google Shopping/Product tab to have a quick scan of the internet to see how much chains are selling a particular item for.
We had a quick look online to see if any other retailers are selling the Chillmax fan for less than £5, and couldn’t find any.
Bear in mind, the fan might not cost £5 across all of B&M’s branches, as it might just have been reduced in one particular store.
You can find your nearest B&M shop by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.
Pharmacy chain Boots is selling the Chillmax fan for £20 while QVC has it in stock for £18.
Meanwhile, Homebase and Wilko are both selling it for £20.
What is the B&M scanner app?
SAVVY shoppers are using an app to find better discounts in stores.
Here’s how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:
- Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
- Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
- You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
- Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
- If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
- You don’t need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.
How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M’s scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.
This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.
Remember you can find your nearest B&M branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.
