Police investigating smash-and-grab burglary at CT jewelry store
Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary at a jewelry store in Westport on Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to Lux Bond & Green at 136 Main St. around 3:10 p.m. Thursday on a report of a burglary, according Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police Department.
Employees told officers two individuals wearing masks and gloves entered the store with sledgehammers and started smashing
display cases, according to Woods.
“The employees safely retreated to the rear of the store and had no interaction with the suspects,” Woods said.
The two individuals allegedly stole an unknown amount of jewelry and fled the store running south on Elm Street, according to Woods.
The suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a black BMW sedan heading toward Fairfield on Post Road East, Woods said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Westport Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080.
