Report: Spurs are trying to ‘burn off competition’ for Serie A star this summer
CalcioMercato have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now trying to muscle other sides out of the way to land Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno.
Over the last few days, a number of Italian outlets have heavily linked Buongiorno with a move to Spurs this summer, with the Lilywhites backed to battle Inter Milan for the defender.
The most recent such update came a couple of days ago from FCInterNews who suggested that the Nerazzurri may hold an advantage in the race since the Italy international would prefer to remain in Serie A.
Tottenham are determined to win race for Buongiorno
CalcioMercato have now provided an update on the race between Spurs and Inter for Buongiorno, with the publication stating that Simone Inzaghi’s men see the Torino star as the ‘perfect’ reinforcement at the back.
However, it is made clear that Tottenham still hold a ‘strong interest’ in the player, with the Premier League club intent to ‘burn off the competition’.
The report adds that Torino have set a price tag of €40m (£34.4m) for Buongiorno, with Inter hoping to pay the fee in several instalments.
Spurs Web Opinion
Buongiorno and Riccardo Calafiori both appear to be Fabio Paratici’s recommendations and it seems like a deal for either Italian player would be easier to pull off for Spurs than one for Tosin Adarabioyo, who appears to have plenty of options to choose from.
