EasyJet passengers cheer after ‘drunk’ holidaymakers thrown off flight
A ‘drunken’ duo were escorted off an easyJet plane by police after drinking duty-free vodka.
The pair were allegedly drunk on the flight from Tenerife to London Gatwick which landed at 2am on Wednesday morning.
They were removed by three police officers once the flight landed after passengers towards the rear of the plane claimed they were being ‘rowdy’.
Cheers and applause can be heard in the video as the pair did the walk of shame down the plane’s aisle.
A passenger who filmed the incident said: ‘A police officer emptied the passenger’s handbag onto the tarmac and a one litre vodka bottle that appeared to be almost empty fell out.
‘They were both in a bad way.’
EasyJet confirmed that the two passengers were removed and it is now a police matter.
In a statement to Metro.co.uk, the airline confirmed: ‘We can confirm that flight EZS8036 from Tenerife to London Gatwick on Wednesday morning was met by police on arrival due to two passengers behaving disruptively onboard.
‘EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.
‘Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.’
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: ‘Officers received a report of concern about a passenger’s behaviour on board a flight in-bound to London Gatwick in the early hours of May 8.
‘The passenger was spoken to by officers and was given words of advice, before continuing with her onward journey.’
A man was kicked off an easyJet plane in November after arguing with an air steward about an unlit cigarette he kept putting back in his mouth.
The flight from Prague to Manchester was due to take off at 9.35pm local time but was delayed by an hour because of the man’s refusal to abide by aircraft rules.
Despite being told by the cabin crew to put the cigarette away when he boarded the plane, the man, who was wearing a grey jumper and jeans, then put it back in his mouth once in his seat.
