New 5 Year Sky TV Deal for EFL Clubs
The 2024/25 season will see the launch of a new five-year broadcast deal between the EFL and Sky Sports. This should mean that EFL fans will be able to watch their team over 20 times a season, including every Carabao Cup game, live on Sky Sports next season.
In the UK iFollow will be replaced by the newly introduced Sky Sports+, brand new live streams and a dedicated channel, launching this August at no extra cost for existing Sky Sports customers.
For instant, contract-free access to every single live Sky Sports+ stream and Sky Sports channels, non-Sky subscribers can purchase a NOW Sports Day or Month Membership.
Each season, Sky Sports will broadcast a minimum of:
- 328 Sky Bet Championship matches
- 248 Sky Bet League One matches
- 248 Sky Bet League Two matches
- All 15 Play-Off matches
- All 93 Carabao Cup matches
- All 127 EFL Trophy matches
Each League weekend fixture round will see 10 live EFL fixtures shown. Five matches will be shown from the Sky Bet Championship and supporters of Sky Bet League One and League Two teams will now benefit from greater coverage than ever before with five of their games being broadcast live.
Audio streaming and broadcasts will continue as now.
International EFL fans will still have access to iFollow.
Clubs will have a new website, and a new club app. Exeter City’s will be called Grecian+ and content will generally be available on that platform first. 4 cameras will cover games in L1 and L2 so there will be an improvement in the live stream. No date for the release has been confirmed. Registration to Grecian+ will be free.
Income from the deal means the EFL clubs see their revenue increase from £119m to £180m. The weighting of that revenue will be the Championship receiving 70%, League One 18% and League Two 12%.
Games that are not being televised should continue with a kick off time as per now. For the opening weekend, final Day and Bank Holiday matches are subject to a move, so they won’t clash with Article 48-protected fixtures.
Article 48 (3pm blocked broadcasting period) will still apply. So the blocked period between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays will remain.
