Traffic stop leads to two drug arrests in Rutland
RUTLAND, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Two Rutland, Vermont residents were arrested and accused of having heroin and cocaine after being pulled over Wednesday morning. Louis Ross, 35, and Katelyn Sawyer, 35, both face charges.
On Wednesday, around 11:22 a.m., Vermont State Police pulled a car over on Lincoln Avenue in Rutland. They identified Ross as the driver and Sawyer as the passenger.
During the stop, troopers say they observed indicators of drug activity. They brought a K9 from the Town Police Department to the scene.
Vermont State Police say they suspected Ross had cocaine on him. After a K9 search, property was seized pending a search warrant.
After the search warrant was granted, police say suspected heroin was found in the car, and a further investigation found Sawyer was on conditions of release. Ross and Sawyer were arrested.

Ross was brought to the State Police Rutland Barracks and was processed before being released on a citation to appear in Rutland County Court. Sawyer was arrested and brought to the Rutland State Police Barracks. She was processed and was released on a citation to appear in Rutland County Court.
