Madonna is on a ‘surgery hiatus’ except for ‘noticeable’ lip changes for on-stage kiss that could’ve cost at least $15k
MADONNA’S kiss with a dancer during her tour finale could have cost thousands because her lips were not up to the job, an injectable expert has said.
She claimed recreating the historic 2003 VMA moment with Britney Spears meant roping in a specialist at the Rio extravaganza to tweak the star’s “misshapen lips.”
Madonna, 65, put on a free show for 1.6 million on Saturday on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
The Like A Virgin singer belted out her classics during the two-hour set.
The Brazilian gig was the largest she had ever performed in her 40-year career.
Madonna played out a kiss with one of her backing dancers, who was topless.
Nurse Tara Adashev, ARPN at Neinstein Plastic Surgery, said Madonna could have been trying to get her “lips back on track” for her big moment.
Madonna has faced repeated speculation about her drastically changed face for years.
“With the 2024 Copacobana kiss, there was probably a lot of focus on Madonna’s lips and how they looked,” Adashev told The U.S. Sun.
“Madonna might have also been conscious of her lips on the tour.
“Madonna’s lips are already augmented in some capacity.
“This is whether she has done some hyaluronic fillers, which would give volume and decrease those lines.
“These fillers could have migrated, which always misshapes the lips.
“The face and features are tough, so once you do something that goes awry, getting it back on track is tough.”
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Madonna and her dancer stood on stage while practicing their kiss during the soundcheck.
Dressed in fishnets, the Queen of Pop ran her hands down the dancer’s body, and the pair locked lips.
“Madonna tried to make this kiss pose repeatedly and without aging her,” added Adashev.
“That kiss pose would use a lot of lip muscles.
“Perhaps Botox was used to slow down the muscle movement.
The injector may have gone in to counteract any asymmetries with the filler.

“For her possible misshape with the bottom lip, some fillers and Botox may have been injected into the depressor muscle – or the muscles surrounding the lips.
“Sometimes, that changes a person’s muscles.
“Maybe Madonna would have tried to counteract that with lower lip and chin fillers to pull down the depressor muscle.”
LIP SERVICE
Adashev suggested Madonna could have flown an injector to Brazil to rectify lip filler issues.
“The injector may have gone in to counteract any asymmetries with the filler,” she said.
“That could have been done on the tour, and it is a quick procedure.
“Madonna would have used someone she knows, or she would have had somebody traveling with them.
“She could have probably just had them fly over there for the end of the tour.
“Her current lips and the correction could have cost her up to $5,000 while any prior lip surgery could have set her back around $15,000.”
Madonna has been sharing clips and images online since her tour kicked off in London in October 2023.
The money-spinning extravaganza included 81 shows worldwide.
After her Miami show in April, Madonna posted a photo on Instagram.
Looking at Madonna’s photos, it does appear there was some surgical removal, such as a lip lift.

She tilted the camera down on her forehead, and her bottom lip appeared to jut out.

“Looking 20 again,” a second said.
SHIPSHAPE
Adashev noticed that the Holiday hitmaker appeared to have had surgical removal work on her lips.
“Looking at Madonna’s photos, it does appear there was some surgical removal, such as a lip lift,” she said.
“To match her upper lip skin, to give the upper lip more height.
“This gives her lips a new shape, a significant change from her earlier photos.
“That work would have probably been before the tour because Madonna would have that scar and needed downtime.
“Madonna would have been told to rest.”
Madonna is almost unrecognizable from the fresh-faced pop star who exploded onto the music scene over twenty years ago.
She became famous in the 1980s because of chart-topping tracks such as Borderline.
Dr. Richard Westreich told The U.S. Sun that Madonna may have spent over $100,000 on surgery.
This included a facelift, brow lift, filler, and lip augmentation.
Madonna faced plenty of backlash after the 2023 Grammys. Fans discussed Madonna’s revamped looks online.
“If they didn’t announce that [that] was Madonna, I’d have no idea who this person presenting at the Grammy’s was,” wrote one X user.
Until then, Madonna never admitted to having work done on her face.
“I am certainly not against plastic surgery. However, I am absolutely against having to discuss it,” she said in 2012.
She was giving her body the chance to rest, so her face was recovering.

Madonna posted a photo on Twitter and admitted she “didn’t look like herself” at the Grammys.
“Look how cute I am now that swelling from surgery has gone down. Lol,” she said.
RESTING FACE
Adashev claimed Madonna had been on a break from “back-to-back” surgery.
“For the rest of her face, I think she was definitely on her surgery hiatus from doing additional surgeries from the photos,” she said
“There was a period when it looked like she was doing a lot of surgeries back to back.
“She was giving her body the chance to rest, so her face was recovering.
“Madonna’s face has been the same for the past couple of months.
“But the noticeable lip was the only thing I could see was different.”
The mom of six’s sell-out celebration tour highlights her continued iconic status.
Given Madonna’s age and music style, there might be added scrutiny of how she looks and moves around on stage.
“I think she takes great care of herself overall,” added Adashev.
“She does look a lot younger than she did before.
“Madonna can use the best chefs, nutritionists, and trainers.”
CUTTING IT
Adashev said that the only spot on Madonna that “stands out as aged” is her underarm area.
“[That’s] genetic — some people lack collagen,” she said.
“It is tough to fix it without cutting the skin and having a scar, while it can be hidden and tattooed over it.
“It is from the armpit down to about the elbow portion in the middle of your arm.
“Cutting it will remove that skin and improve that crepey look.
“Maybe because of her costumes and the nature of her industry, Madonna did not want the scar.
“So maybe she would have done as many non-surgical options as possible for that area.”
