Niskayuna students sit, talk with WWII veteran
NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Students in Niskayuna got the chance to learn about history on Wednesday from those who helped make it. Iroquois Middle School welcomed a World War II veteran on the anniversary of VE Day.
The hero shared his experiences serving our country and answered students' questions. Preserving the history of WWII is becoming more critical as the number of people who lived through it diminishes.
According to the National World War II Museum, there are about 119,000 WWII veterans still alive out of the 16 million who served.
