Groundbreaking ceremony held for Lincoln Park Pool in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Leaders and community members in the city of Albany celebrated the future of the Lincoln Park Pool. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon.
Construction on the new pool started a couple of weeks ago when crews began installing long metal tubes known as micropiles, which will keep the pool stable. The facility will have a lap pool, a zero-entry pool, and a splash pad, so everyone has something to enjoy.
"This has been a collaborative effort with our community, participatory government," Albany Recreation Department Commissioner Jonathan Jones said. "We heard your voices. We're going to implement the things that we spoke about and more to come."
The old pool was more than 90 years old and had been leaking. City leaders hope to open the new pool in time for the Fourth of July in 2025.
