Six top showrunners will reveal secrets behind their projects when they join Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&A event with 2024 Emmy Awards and other TV awards contenders. They will participate in two video discussions to premiere on Wednesday, May 15, at 6:00 p.m. PT; 9:00 p.m. ET. We’ll have a one-on-one with our senior editor Rob Licuria and a roundtable chat with all of the group together.

Bookie
Synopsis: Follows a veteran bookie struggling to survive the impending legalization of sports gambling, increasingly unstable clients, family and co-workers.
Bio: Chuck Lorre was a 10-time Emmy nominee for “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Kominsky Method.” He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2012.
Elsbeth
Synopsis: Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional attorney, gives her singular point of view to make observations to catch criminals alongside the NYPD.
Bio: Jonathan Tolins’ career has included “Queer as Folk,” “The Good Fight,” “Schmigadoon!” and “East New York.”
Expats
Synopsis: A look at the personal and professional lives of a tight-knit group of expatriates living in Hong Kong.
Bio: Lulu Wang was an Independent Spirit winner for “The Farewell.” Other projects have included “Posthumous,” “Touch” and “Nian.”
Girls5eva
Synopsis: A one-hit-wonder band from the ’90s gets a second shot at fame when a young rapper samples their song.
Bio: Meredith Scardino was a four-time Emmy winner for “The Colbert Report” and was a nominee for “Late Show with David Letterman,” “72nd Annual Golden Globes,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Girls5eva.”
Only Murders in the Building
Synopsis: Three strangers – who live in the same New York City apartment building and share an obsession with true crime – suddenly find themselves embroiled in a murder.
Bio: John Hoffman was a four-time Emmy nominee for “Only Murders in the Building” and once for “81st Annual Academy Awards.” Other projects have included “Looking” and “Grace and Frankie.”
Twisted Metal
Synopsis: Follows a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Bio: Michael Jonathan Smith was an Emmy nominee for “Cobra Kai.” Other projects have included “Mermates,” “The Common Cult” and “I Own You.”
