AUSTIN (KXAN) — Trudy's Authentic Tex-Mex announced Monday it closed its South Star location at 901 Little Texas Lane, Ste. C.
The news came amid an announcement of possible new locations around the Austin area, along with expansions into both the Houston and San Antonio markets.
“We have looked at multiple options to keep this location open, but the economics and changes in the immediate shopping area unfortunately do not work,” Trudy's CEO Scott Taylor said in the release. “We want to thank all our loyal fans in South Austin for making Trudy’s a part of their lives over the years, and we invite them to visit our North Star restaurant whenever they can. We are looking to re-engage with the local artists and re-energize some of the cool elements in the iconic North Star location while we look to bring new locations to the Austin market.”
The closure announcement came more than four years after Trudy's filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2020.
