SUNY New Paltz student accused of assaulting state trooper
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A SUNY New Paltz Student was arrested on May 7 following a pro-Palestine encampment. Aiden O'Brien, 20, of New City, is accused of assaulting a State Police Investigator at the encampment.

- Second-degree reckless endangerment
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Disorderly conduct
- Trespass
State Police was requested to help disperse the crowd at the encampment being held on campus on May 3. Police report that upon trying to disperse the crowd, a protestor, who is alleged to be O'Brien, threw a metal bottle at a State Police Investigator resulting in an injury to the face.
O'Brien was arraigned at the Town of Plattekill Court and placed in the custody of Ulster County Jail with cash bail set at $5,000. O'Brien was set to reappear in court on Wednesday.
