A home expert revealed the four bathroom trends that make cleaning more difficult.
In her viral video, Abby Posner (@home.swee.home) explained why she avoided each design feature in her custom-built home.
She pointed out that bathrooms already require a high level of cleaning and simple layout choices can make the process easier.
For her first recommendation, she advised her audience to steer clear of smaller feature tiles.
Instead, Abby suggested opting for larger tiles as there will be fewer grout lines to collect dirt.
She also explained why full-length glass shower doors are more difficult to clean.
“Watermarks tend to build up quickly if the glass is not wiped dry after every shower,” she said.
To maintain sparkling glass, Abby revealed you would have to clean your shower doors at least once a week.
Instead, she suggested opting for a half-glass shower feature or frosted glass doors.
For her next tip, she recommended avoiding gold fixtures in your bathroom.
“The gold color is usually electroplated over and tends to discolor or peel over time unless you take very good care of them and wipe them dry after every use,” Abby explained.
Finally, she advised her followers against including a certain style of door in their bathrooms.
Abby showed an example of a louver panel door, which she admitted was “aesthetically pleasing.”
However, the home pro pointed out that the door style isn’t the most practical for bathrooms.
The horizontal slats allow noise and smell to travel through.
While the door lacks privacy, a new closed version creates the illusion of slats without any gapping.
