Local housing authorities awarded $10.7 million
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Six housing authorities in the Capital Region are receiving support from a $10.7 million federal housing grant. The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded $10,762,770 to be invested in Albany, Schenectady, Cohoes, Saratoga Springs, Rensselaer, and Troy public housing facilities.
The funding is part of a larger investment into housing authorities for the nation amounting to $3.17 billion for 2,756 public housing facilities. Congressman Paul Tonko announced the funding on Monday, May 6, and said the investment creates stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
