Warmer, sunnier weather begins Wednesday around Oregon, Washington
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Warmer and sunnier weather starts to build around the greater Portland, Vancouver metro area on Wednesday.
Temps will rise after a chilly and frosty morning for some along the Willamette Valley. Sunshine will push temperatures back into the upper 60s this afternoon.
A strong ridge of high pressure and northeasterly winds will help bring warmer air back into the region Thursday. Temperatures may bump into the low 80s by the afternoon. Even warmer and near record-breaking conditions are possible on Friday and Saturday. Perhaps we get our first 90 degree day of the year, too.
Despite these summer-like temperatures, streams and rivers will remain too cold for swimming. Be cautious and wear a life vest if you enter any body of water. Snow melt will also help to fill many of Oregon and Washington's waterways with this latest warming trend.
Enjoy a wonderfully sunny and warm Mother's Day this year. Temperatures will remain above average through the start of next week with potentially dry conditions sticking around for seven to ten days in Portland.
