Cadbury says sorry & admits they’re ‘concerned’ after gutted schoolgirl, 8, spots huge Wispa bar error
A YOUNG girl was left bitterly angry after discovering her Cadbury’s Wispa bar was completely hollowed out.
Scarlett King, aged just eight, was “in pieces” after getting an empty shell of a bar from a multi-pack last week.
And the snack is not the only thing that has rang hollow – after a blundering apology from Cadbury bosses.
The iconic choc-chain offered the schoolgirl a cheque for just TWO POUNDS to rectify the error.
Unlucky Scarlett pulled the empty Wispa from a multipack of four – bought by mum Benita for £1.65 from her local Coop in Worthing, Sussex.
Stay-at-home mum-of-two Benita said: “Her face was just heartbreaking.
“We’d shared a multipack with my husband and my son.
“Scarlett looked at me and asked ‘Mummy, why is my chocolate empty?’.
“By that point we’d all scoffed ours down so there was nothing we could do.
“It was enough to make anyone cry.”
In a reply, Cadbury’s said they were “concerned” about the dodgy Wispa.
The confectionery firm insisted their manufacturing process was “strictly controlled”.
As compensation, they offered up a £2 cheque – barely enough for another multipack.
Benita added: “The cheek of them.
“My daughter was absolutely devastated and all they were willing to do is send me over a couple of quid.”
It comes after chocoholics were shocked after a massive change was made to their beloved Wispa bars.
Cadbury lovers were disappointed when they noticed the difference – and blasted the company.
The chocolate company dubbed the move a “last resort” to combat rising costs of both ingredients and production.
Meanwhile, Cadbury have revealed a special ‘graveyard’ filled with all of their famous discontinued treats.
The mouth-watering chocolate collection offers fans the chance to step back in time and be reunited with their retro favourites.
Others were gutted when they discovered an “amazing” flavour had been given the chop.
And, just a few months ago the chocolatier confirmed it had axed Peanut Caramel Crisp Bars.

Cadbury’s Dream Chocolate bar: The popular bar was discontinued in 2002, but was relaunched in 2019 under the new name ‘Cadbury White’.
Mars Delight Bar: Although it proved to be a firm favourite by sweet-toothed fans during its four-year stint in shops starting in 2004, by 2008 it was removed from shelves. Fans still long to see the treat make a return.
Nestlé’s Caramac chocolate bar: The one-of-a-kind bar had been in shops for over six decades, but was discontinued last year due to continual slumps in sales.
Milky Way Crispy Rolls: They were pulled from shelves in 2022, and fans were so distraught by the news that a petition was started to bring them back, which currently has more than 8,500 signatures.
White Maltesers: The white chocolate version of the popular snack had a strong run lasting 11 years, but falling sales saw them discontinued in 2014
