'A 12-year-old would come up with a better ruling' than Aileen Cannon: Morning Joe
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough walloped Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to indefinitely postpone Donald Trump's trial for mishandling classified documents.
The federal judge canceled a trial date for later this month and set a new schedule for working out legal issues related to how classified evidence will be presented to a jury, and the "Morning Joe" host blasted what he said were her shameless efforts to tip the scales of justice in favor of the former president who appointed her.
"I have faith in the judicial system that the end of the day, everything does balance out, so I'm not here, like, you know, like, you know, trashing the American judicial system," Scarborough said. "Sometimes stuff just happens, and here we have just a great irony where we are living through a case that a lot of people don't think should have ever been brought and we are never going to hear a case that is actually central to Donald Trump's crimes."
Scarborough and the other panelists agreed the trial would almost certainly not happen before the November election, and Trump would almost certainly bury the case if he is re-elected.

"I think that ship has long since sailed," said legal analyst Lisa Rubin. "Yesterday was no surprise, and I can't underscore how little of a surprise it was. It was more surprising that Stormy Daniels got on the stand and said she had sex with Donald Trump than Cannon postponed the trial day. She has a number of motions that haven't even been scheduled yet under the Classified Procedures Act, she has a number of pending motions that have been fully briefed for months now on which she has made no decision. I wouldn't venture a guess at when this case would be ready for trial, [and] I believe that is by design. I continue to be disappointed by Judge Cannon and her execution of the role of federal jurist here."
The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals already vacated Cannon's orders in the earliest days of this case, finding that she had no jurisdiction to hear Trump's complaint about the search of his Mar-a-Lago resort that turned up the classified documents that had been sought by the National Archives.
"They excoriated her on appeal and just humiliating her, and I thought she would be a bit more careful and play more down the center and play more by the rules than she has, but she has not," Scarborough said. "You look what she is talking about regarding jury instructions, it's crazy! It's crazy! A 12-year-old that went with her mother to 'take a kid to court' day, like as a lawyer, would have come up with a better ruling than she has come up with. It's bizarre, and I am sure that if that is appealed, now that there is time the 11th Circuit will excoriate her again. She must not care what think the world thinks of her. She is looking like everything she is doing, she is doing to help Donald Trump."
